On 13 May 2026, the EU's Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (PAFF Committee) discussed about he draft Commission Recommendation on the monitoring of mineral oil hydrocarbons in food (for endorsement) (PLAN 2023/2727).
The introduction of the limit values is planned in stages and is expected to apply from 2027, taking transition periods into account.
The current regulatory landscape related to NATURAL VITAMIN E is summarized below based on the latest draft documents:
Fats and Oils: maximum limit of 2.0 mg/kg applies to most vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower, etc.). For certain oils such as argan, coconut or peanut oil, higher limits apply temporarily (up to 10.0 mg/kg), which will be gradually reduced to 2.0 mg/kg by 1st January 2030
Food supplements: Proposed limit of 10.0 mg/kg (2027), to be reduced to 5.0 mg/kg by 2030
Processed and compound foods: The general limits based on fat content will also apply to processed and compound foods from 2030
New Element is the one of the only few natural vitamin E manufacturers who can control the MOAH level to max 2.0 mg/kg(ppm), which match very well on the limit.
