Vitamin E comes primarily in four forms: alpha-tocopherol, beta-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol, and delta-tocopherol. Among these, alpha-tocopherol is generally considered the most biologically active and essential for human health.

These tocopherols are widely distributed in nature and are predominantly found in plant-based foods such as plant oils (especially wheat germ oil and sunflower oil), nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains.
